Mena Alexa Suvari was born in 1979. She is a famous American fashion designer, model and actor. She started her modeling career in 1990. She soon shifted into acting following appearances in television shows such as Boy Meets World or High Incident. Her film debut came in 1997's drama film Nowhere. Through her roles on American Beauty - for which the actress was nominated be awarded a BAFTA Award - and American Pie that earned much attention and recognition, she was able to move into larger roles. She's appeared alongside American Pie's Co-Star Jason Biggs in Loser (2000) before starring as the main character on the screen in Sugar & Spice (2001). Spun is an independent film from 2002 and the thriller movie Trauma (2004) are the two films she has made her most recent appearances. The year 2004, she starred on HBO's drama Six Feet Under. She was nominated for the Screen Actors Guild Award for 2005 in the category of Outstanding Ensemble. In 2008, Suvari was cast in a variety of films, like Day of the Dead The Mysteries of Pittsburgh and as the film adaption of The Garden of Eden. Suvari is the actress for Lancome cosmetics and also print advertisements for Lancome Paris Adaptive and has been featured in a variety of fashion magazines as well as blogs including Vogue. She is a long-time campaigner for and a supporter of the renowned African relief group, The African Medical and Research Foundation. She is an activist for female empowerment, as well as a member of a number of organizations combating breast cancer as well as an End Violence Against Women movement.
